Porthmeor Studios Renovation

Arts Lottery funding enabled the Trust to appoint award winning architects Long & Kentish to design the renovation scheme. pdf1Click here to download the architect’s report, which provides a fascinating account of the project.

In addition to the Arts Lottery funding, the project has just been awarded £900,000 from the Sea Change programme, £100,000 from English Heritage and £50,000 from Cornwall Council. This has enabled work to start on Phase 1 which will renovate the east end of the building. Read more about this project.

Smart Regeneration is a local appeal set up to raise funds for the project. Janet Street-Porter helped to launch it at the studios in June 2006, and she kindly agreed to talk at an event at the studios in July 2008 which raised over £1000 for the appeal.

There are opportunities to purchase a limited edition lithograph by Anthony Frost. We are also very grateful for any donations, and please use our contact page if you would like further information.

Trewarveneth Studio Renovation

When Trewarveneth was bequeathed to the Trust in 2002, the roof was leaking badly and in a dangerous condition, and the Trust took an urgent decision to replace it to prevent further damage. However the building still required substantial modernisation and alteration of its layout before it could be reopened as studios.

The Trust successfully raised the funds for this project, and work was carried out in 2007 by Paul Mitchell Builders. The Studios were opened by Monica Wynter on 6th October 2007 at an Open Day attended by funders, artists and the local community, and six artists were able to move in on 1st November. Anchor Studio

Anchor Studio consists of a single large studio with limited residential accommodation below, and will make an ideal live/work studio space. The Trust intends to use this historic studio to establish a residency programme, building on its links with national and international arts organisations to attract artists of the highest quality. The Trust launched a fundraising appeal in 2005, and has recently replaced an enormous window due to the very generous support of the Tanner Trust.
